Overview

The objective of the OTHM Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership qualification is to develop strategic management and leadership skills for managers who have the authority and personal attributes to translate organisational strategy into effective operational performance.

This qualification reflects current practice in Strategic Management and Leadership and allows learners to develop and expand their high-level understanding of strategic management and leadership in the workplace.

This qualification is suitable for mature learners with a background in academic study or industry. The qualification has a clear work-related emphasis on practical skills development alongside theoretical fundamentals.

Successful completion equips learners with the key skills and capabilities to become an effective strategic manager and progress into employment or further study towards an MBA with advanced standing.

Entry Requirements

  • Honours degree in related subject or UK Level 6 diploma or equivalent overseas qualification
  • Mature learners with management experience (subject to delivery centre approval)
  • Learners must be 21 years or older at the beginning of the course
  • English requirements: If not from a majority English-speaking country, evidence of English language competency is required

Equivalences

The OTHM Level 7 diplomas on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) are at the same level as master’s degrees. However, they are shorter (120 credits) and learners must proceed to the dissertation stage (60 credits) with a university to achieve a full master’s qualification.

Qualification Structure

The OTHM Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership consists of 4 mandatory units and 2 optional units, making a combined total of 120 credits, 1200 hours Total Qualification Time (TQT) and 600 Guided Learning Hours (GLH).

Duration and Delivery

The qualification is designed to be delivered over one academic year for full-time study, but is also flexible for part-time and distance learning.

Delivery is conducted through face-to-face lectures, Zoom interactive video conferencing, tutorials, and seminars.

Assessment, Verification and Award

This qualification is awarded by OTHM, a reputed UK awarding body whose qualifications are approved and regulated by UK Ofqual (Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulation).

All units are internally assessed by Canterbury College and externally verified by OTHM. Qualifications are criterion referenced based on achievement of all learning outcomes and assessment criteria.

To achieve a ‘pass’ for a unit, learners must demonstrate full completion of all learning outcomes and assessment criteria. Judgement is made by the assessor.

Progression

Successful completion enables learners to progress into employment or join the MBA programme at the dissertation stage at the University of Gloucestershire.

As this qualification is regulated by Ofqual, learners may also progress to MBA top-up programmes with advanced standing at universities in the UK and overseas.
